Celts Pull Away Late to Defeat Crusaders

IRVING, Texas - The Univetrsity of Dallas men's basketball team lost their conference matchup with St. Thomas 79-63 this evening.  They fall to 5-13 on the year and 3-7 in conference play.

Things were tight for much of the first half as the teams traded blows, but began to go their separate ways as the Celts began to heat up.  St. Thomas led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but the Crusaders found some form in the final minutes, going 4-7 in the last five minutes to go into the break down by eight.

A 14-4 run saw the Celts expand their led to 18 four minutes into the second half.  After trailing by as many as 23 points, the Crusaders were able to cut the deficit to 14.  Howvever, they would never be closer than that as the Celts saw out the win.

Marcus Juarez posted a season-high 17 points to lead the Crusaders in scoring.  Jai Love was right behind with 14 points, and Louis Christifano Jr. added 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench, going 4-5 from the field.

Conference play continues on Tuesday, as the Crusaders will be making up their game with Southwestern.  The Pirates are hosting, with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
