Love and Toussaint Propel Crusaders Past TLU

SEGUIN, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team won their conference matchup with Texas Lutheran 74-73 this evening.  They improve to 4-12 on the year and 2-6 in conference play.

The game could go either way right from the tip-off.  Dallas took an early, but narrow lead and held it until the Bulldogs were able to tie it up at 13-13 with 12 minutes on the clock.  Texas Lutheran took the lead soon after and had the biggest lead of the game to that point at 20-15, but two more lead changes would see the Bulldogs escape the first half with a narrow 35-32 lead.

Dallas led by as many as eight points inside the final four minutes, but it became a one possession game as TLU steadily closed the gap.  The final minute of the game was frantic, with two lead changes in the final 30 seconds.  Down by one, the Crusaders leading scorer on the season Jai Love pulled up and fired a mid-range jumper to give the Crusaders the lead with just eight seconds left on the clock, and TLU would have no answer.  The Crusaders were able to snap their seven-game losing streak and pick up their second conference win.

On top of scoring the game-winner, Jai Love led all players with 25 points, going 7-16 from the floor and a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.  Letrell Toussaint was not far behind, dropping a season-high 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
