Hot Start Gives Hendrix the Win in Men's Basketball Home Opener

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team lost their home opener to Hendrix College 91-73 this evening.  They fall to 2-3 on the year.

The Warriors got off to a blistering start, going 8-11 in the first five and a half minutes to take a commanding 21-2 lead against a Crusaders team that went 1-10 from the field in the same span.  Though Dallas were able to turn things around in the first half, outscoring Hendrix 27-20 the remainder of the period, the early deficit would prove too much to overcome.

Though the Crusaders were able to match the Warriors nearly point for point in the second half, they couldn't come up with a run or two to match the early dominance of Hendrix and cut into the deficit.  They pulled themselves to within 12 at one point and were trailing by 26 at another in the second half.  A three-pointer by Blake Dwyer in the final 20 seconds would make it an 18 point game, and it would be the last basket of the game.

Jai Love led the Crusaders with 24 points, his second game of the season with 20 or more; he was also one board shy of a double-double, grabbing nine rebounds.  Louis Christifano Jr. added 15 points in 34 minutes, going 6-6 from the free throw line.  Jack Boyle came off the bench to lead the Crusaders with 10 rebounds in 22 minutes.
