Gallant and Mathis Tabbed on NABC 2020-21 Honors Court

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) today announced the 2020-21 NABC Honors Court, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA, who excelled in academics the past season. The NABC Honors Court highlights the talents and gifts that these men possess on the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:

  1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
  2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year.
  3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
  4. Member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I institution with a NABC member coach.

Jack Gallant (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Dustin Mathis (Fort Worth, Texas) qualified for the list to represent the University of Dallas men's basketball team. Both are seniors and majored in Business.

This was the second time for Gallant to qualify for the NABC Honors Court, as he earned it in 2019-20. He also has achieved the Academic Honor Roll on the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) those same consecutive seasons. The guard played two seasons in an abbreviated 2021 campaign and has been part of the program all four years.

Mathis is a two-time recipient of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll and grabbed his first appearance on NABC. The four-year letterwinner was also on All-SCAC Honorable Mention Team. Mathis played nine games and tallied 101 points (11.2 per contest). He was second on the team in assists and steals with 30 and 13, respectively.
