Both teams shot well from the floor for the game.  UD shot 44.1% while Schreiner shot 50.0% for field goals. Schreiner held a noticeable advantage from both the three point line and the foul line against Dallas, shooting 37.5% from the 3-point line and 78.1% from the foul line to UD's 17.4% and 60.0%.

Schreiner had greater control of the boards as they outrebounded the Crusaders 42-30. However, UD caused more mayhem on defense outperforming the Mountaineers in steals, blocked shots, and turnovers 13-8, 5-1, and 16-26, respectively.

Love scored 22 points on 7-14 shooting, 2-5 from the 3- point line, 6-9 from the foul line for his fifth double digit scoring performance of the season and his third over 20. Boyle had a double-double and three or more blocked shots for the third straight game with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots. Boyle now has 12 blocked shots in the last three games. Love and Boyle also tied for the team high in assists with four.

Cameran Hyde (Missouri City, Texas) and Dustin Mathis (Ft. Worth, Texas) both also broke double digits for the game. Hyde scored 13 points and Mathis scored 10.

For the second time in the last three games, five Mountaineers scored 10 points or more. Chase Pinter and Nicholas Vann both scored 14 points for the game. Alex Dehoyos scored 12 points, and Bronson Evans and Matthews Rindahl each scored 11 points apiece in the contest.

Dallas struck first with a basketball Letrell Toussaint (Waco, Texas).  UD slowly increased their lead to its largest of the first half at 21-12 with 12:35 on the clock.  Schreiner answered with nine consecutive points over the next four minutes to tie the game at 21-21. The game would be tied again at 27-27 before UD began to pull away again, ending with a half time lead of 38-33.

In the second half, Dallas increased their lead to its largest point at 51-41, and then again at 54-44. Schreiner then began to narrow the gap, cutting the deficit to one, 59-58, with about 10 minutes left before finally tying the game at 68-68 with just over six minutes left. Schreiner then held onto a tight lead the rest of the game with their largest lead at five points. The Crusaders brought the game to one point multiple times, but were never able to recapture the lead or tie. Andrew Sparks's two made free throws with six second left secured the game for the Mountaineers.

The loss drops the Crusaders to 1-6 for both their season record and conference record, while the win improves Schreiner's season record to 2-3 and their conference record to 1-2. Dallas finishes its two game series against Schreiner on Saturday.  The rematch in Kerrville is at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
