FIRST TIP

The University of Dallas men's basketball team will host two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matchups this weekend with the two Colorado schools coming to Irving. The Crusaders (9-8, 5-5 SCAC) will host Johnson & Wales University (CO) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday UD will faceoff with Colorado College with first tip scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Dallas is coming off an 0-2 week after dropping both competitions to Austin College, but looks to get back into the winning column with two home games against two conference teams the Crusaders were able to beat earlier this season. Dallas edged JWU 59-58 on January 3rd and took down Colorado College 72-64 on January 4th to begin SCAC play earlier this season.

UD NOTES

- Dallas is averaging 70.8 points-per-game.

- John Russell (Bosier City, La.) had his highest scoring total on the season at Colorado College. The junior forward finished with 13 points and six rebounds in the game.

- Letrell Toussaint (Waco, Texas) leads the Crusaders in field goal percentage 45-76 (59%) (Minimum of 10 attempts). Toussaint also leads the team with 118 total rebounds, averaging 6.9 rebounds-per-game.

- Dallas is +0.4 in the rebound margin for the 2019-20 campaign.

- Dallas is 4-4 on its home court this season.


(Opponent Notes)

- The Wildcats (2-16, 1-10 SCAC) have lost nine-straight games, but were able to beat Texas Lutheran University 59-58 for its lone conference victory back on December 20th.  

- Andray Thomas ranks in the top-five in 19.8 points-per-game (4th) and 8.9 rebounds-per-game (1st) among all SCAC players.

- Thomas and Kaleb Atherley led the Wildcats with 24 and 19 points, respectively in the close loss to Dallas earlier this season. Thomas also drained four three-pointers in that contest.

- The Wildcats are allowing 80.4 points to opponents this season.

- JWU has not won a game away from Denver this season.

- The Tigers (5-12, 3-8 SCAC) went 1-1 last weekend after they beat Centenary College 72-67, but fell to University of St. Thomas (TX) 92-79.

- CooXooEii Black leads the team with 20.8 points-per-game and has notched a 54.9 field goal percentage. Black ranks second among all SCAC players in both of these categories.

- Aaron Acosta has contributed 18.5 points-per-game for CC, which places him fifth in the SCAC leaderboard. Acosta had a big day versus UD earlier this season after he led the Tigers with 31 points, making four three-pointers in the loss to Dallas.

- The Tigers are shooting 44% from the field and 33% from three-point range for the season.

- CC is 1-7 on the road this season. The Tigers lone away win came in Denver against Johnson & Wales.

ROAD AHEAD

Dallas will travel next week for two conference road tests. UD will first face Trinity University on Friday (Feb. 7) at 5:30 p.m. The next day the Crusaders will take on Schreiner University with first tip scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
