FIRST TIP

The University of Dallas men's basketball team will begin 2020 with the hope of better outcomes as Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) competition will be in full swing. The Crusaders (4-5, 0-2 SCAC) are currently on a five-game slide after beginning the season 4-0. Dallas will open the new year with a trip to Colorado to first take on Johnson & Wales University (CO) in Denver on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (MST). UD will then take on Colorado College on Saturday in Colorado Springs with first tip scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (MST). UD fell 85-71 in its last outing versus Eureka College on Monday.

UD NOTES

- UD had a five and a six game-losing streak last season, but bounced back nicely each time to keep tab among the SCAC race.

- John Russell (Bossier City, La.) has notched a 57.4 field goal percentage (3rd SCAC).

- UD has outscored its opponents 628-606 on the year.

- Dallas is still shooting above 40% despite the latest slide.

- Letrell Toussaint (Waco, Texas) leads UD with 64 total rebounds with an average of 7.1 per game.

- Dallas posted a record-breaking 15 three-pointers in last season's win at Colorado College. It was also the first conference win that season after an 0-2 start and gave head coach Jarred Samples the all-time wins record (112).

(Opponent Notes)

- Johnson & Wales (2-9, 1-3 SCAC) is coming off a 92-54 setback to Centenary College in its last outing.

- Andray Thomas Jr. leads the Wildcats as he averages 18.1 points-per-game.

- Thomas Jr. also leads all SCAC players with 9.1 rebounds-per-contest

- JWU edged Texas Lutheran University 59-58 earlier this season but has been blown out in its conference losses.

- Despite the rough start to the season the Wildcats are shooting 38.8% from the field and are dishing out 12.6 assists-per-game.

- Colorado College (2-8, 0-4 SCAC) has also dropped five straight games including a 102-92 loss at University of St. Thomas (TX) on Monday.

- Cooxooeii Black leads the Tigers with 18.5 points-per-game and 8.2 rebounds per-contest.

- Jj Woods has played in six games for the Tigers but is shooting 7-14 from behind the arc to lead CC in three-point percentage.

- The Tigers are +1.4 on the rebound margin.
