Trinity takes down @UDallasMBB, 75-59

SAN ANTONIO - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (9-9, 3-5 SCAC) was defeated 75-59 by Trinity University (12-7, 7-1 SCAC) on Friday night at Sams Gymnasium.

The Tigers opened with nine-unanswered points en route to a half-high 10-point (11-1) lead, with 14:20 remaining in the first-half.

Over the next 2:07 of clock, Dallas used a 10-0 run to square the game 11-11.

Head coach Jarred Samples' squad boasted a four-point (20-16) lead, with 7:49 to go in the period.

In the ebb-and-flow first-half, Robert Kitzinger scored 14 of his game-high 22 points to help Trinity to a 36-32 halftime advantage.

Kitzinger ended 4-of-4 from 3-point range and the free-throw line. He also managed seven rebounds (one offensive), two assists and a steal in 25 minutes of play.

The Tigers led for good -- with 17:31 remaining in the game -- following a converted 3-pointer by William Young.

They increased their 3-point (41-38) margin to a game-high 17-point (75-58) lead, with 1:52 left in regulation.

Dallas was outrebounded (50-21) in the 16-point defeat, as they surrendered 18 offensive rebounds. The navy and white also lost points in the paint (18-6) and fast-break points (7-0).

Zach Lambert tallied 19 points, while Craig Saltarelli contributed 11 for Trinity. 

Freshman guard Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas) amassed a team-high 11 points in 31 minutes on the court for the Crusaders.

His teammates -- senior forward Ross Davidson (Dana Point, Calif.) and senior guard Nate Wilson (Fairbanks, Alaska) -- added 10 points apiece to round-out double-figure scorers.

Dallas contests Southwestern (5-13, 2-6 SCAC) in a 4 p.m. tip-off on Saturday in Georgetown, Texas.
