@UDallasMBB defeats Millsaps (MS), 60-56
IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (4-2) won 60-56 over Millsaps College (1-5) on Saturday afternoon at the Maher Athletic Center.
Junior guard Sean Bambace (San Antonio, Texas) made good on a jumper with 26 seconds remaining in the first-half to give the Crusaders a game-high nine-point lead.
Bambace, as a reserve, finished with 11 points, which included a 3-of-3 effort from 3-point range.
The Crusaders went into halftime with a 34-25 lead, after converting 13-of-27 (48.1 percent) from the field. The Majors netted 10-of-27 (37 percent) in the initial half.
Millsaps began the second-half on a 17-4 run. They seized the lead with 14:53 to go in a game that produced seven lead changes.
Down the stretch, the Majors held a 54-53 advantage with 3:24 left.
Dallas ended the game on a 6-2 run in the final 1:25 to achieve a four-point victory.
Junior forward Aaron Wyatt (Frisco, Texas) finished tied with Millsaps' Murray Kastner for a game-high 17 points.
Wyatt went 7-of-13 from the floor, 1-of-1 from 3-point range, and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line. He added seven rebounds (four offensive) and an assist in 30 minutes on the court.
The Majors' Tully Gilligan recorded 12 points to round-out double-figure scorers.
Nate Wilson's 13 rebounds (three offensive) helped the Crusaders to a 37-24 margin in the category.
Head coach Jarred Samples' squad also took bench points (25-15) and second-chance points (11-5), while a number of statistics proved close between the teams.
