Arlington Baptist edges @UDallasMBB, 82-79 (OT)

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (3-2) had their two-game winning-streak end thanks to an 82-79 overtime road loss to Arlington Baptist College (2-6) on Thursday night.

The Crusaders were able to overcome a 13-point first-half defict to force the extra frame, following a career-effort offensively from Ross Davidson (Dana Point, Calif.).

Davidson scored 21 of his game-high 34 points in the second-half. The senior forward/center ended the game 14-of-23 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range. He added a 3-of-5 mark from the free-throw line, eight rebounds (two offensive) and five assists in 41 minutes of play.

Dallas watched a narrow 65-61 lead dissipate over the final 3:52 of regulation. The Patriots went on a 6-2 run to close-out the second-half to the chagrin of head coach Jarred Samples.

There were three lead changes in overtime, and the affair was knotted 75-75 with 2:04 remaining.

Willie Clayborne recorded eight of his team-high 17 points for Arlington Baptist in the decisive period, helping his team to a three-point victory. Clayborne's layup, with 1:36 to go, tipped the scales for good into the Patriots' favor.

Four others from Arlington Baptist reached double-figures, while the Crusaders had two more in addition to Davidson. Senior guard Nate Wilson (Fairbanks, Alaska) tallied 17 points, and junior forward Aaron Wyatt (Frisco, Texas) contributed 12.

Free throws were a key statistic in this contest. Arlington Baptist converted 17-of-13, while Dallas went 11-of-18 from the charity stripe. The Patriots also held noteworthy edges in bench points (35-6) and points-in-the-paint (40-34).
