Men's Basketball unable to produce late, falters 64-53 to Trinity

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (11-7, 6-3 SCAC) was bested 64-53 on Friday evening at the Maher Athletic Center, after the Crusaders were held in check for the final three minutes. 

Trinity (13-5, 7-1 SCAC) trailed 25-23 at halftime, but outscored Dallas 41-28 in the second-half to claim an 11-point victory. 

The Crusaders were held scoreless after notching a 53-50 lead with 3:26 remaining. The Tigers went on a 14-0 run down the stretch.

Led by Robert Zitzinger's game-high 18 points, Trinity managed five 3-pointers and a 14-of-17 clip from the free-throw line in the second half. 

Senior forward Tanner Bruffey (Lubbock, Texas) finished with a team-high 15 points in defeat, while junior forward Ross Davidson (Dana Point, Calif.) added 14. Bruffey converted 5-of-10 from the field, including 3-of-4 from distance. 

Trinity took bench points 29-17 and outrebounded Dallas 37-26. The Crusaders countered with a 30-14 points-in-the-paint margin.

Dallas hosts Southwestern University (7-11, 3-6 SCAC) on Sunday, Jan. 27, in a 2 p.m. tip-off at the Maher Athletic Center.
