KERRVILLE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (9-6, 4-2 SCAC) was bested 80-72 by Schreiner University on Tuesday evening at Edington Gymnasium, despite managing a 50-percent mark from the field.

Dallas converted 12-of-22 (54.5 percent) from the floor in the first half, but trailed Schreiner (8-8, 5-5 ASC) 41-33 at the break after the Mountaineers netted six more field goals in the half.

Tanner Bruffey (Lubbock, Texas) tabbed 16 points in the second half, and the senior forward finished with a game-high 26 points for the Crusaders.

Never leading in the game, Dallas pulled within three of leveling the score with 5:19 remaining in regulation.

Travis Pflughaupt notched 18 points in the final period, navigating Schreiner to an eight-point victory. He tallied a team-high 22 points.

Junior forward Ross Davidson (Dana Point, Calif.) and sophomore guard Drew Assinesi (Pasadena, Calif.) each registered 13 points for head coach Jarred Samples' squad.

Bruffey and Davidson snatched nine rebounds apiece, falling just shy of a double-double.

The Crusaders outrebounded Schreiner 35-28, but the Mountaineers forced a 14-4 turnover disparity to claim a 21-4 points-off-turnovers advantage.
