NEW LONDON, Conn. - Sophomore guard Kym Malone poured in a team-best 16 points to lead the University of Dallas (3-2) to a 58-54 victory against Wheelock College in Saturday's title game of the Citizens Bank Classic at Luce Field House.

Malone (Richardson, Texas) was named the tournament's most valuable player, and was joined by junior forward Ross Davidson (Dana Point, Calif.) on the All-Tournament squad.

Wheelock College (1-4) seniors Daniel Higgins (Wakefield, Mass.) and Bashir Hudson (Jamaica Plain, Mass.) represented the Wildcats on the All-Tournament Team. Connecticut College junior Matt Vadas and freshman Jared Shill rounded out the All-Tournament team selections.

Davidson posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, while senior forward Tanner Bruffey (Lubbock, Texas) reached double-figures with 11 points.

Dallas led 28-11 at the break, but the Wildcats stormed back and took 42-37 lead with a free throw from Andrew Kirkman with 9:09 to go.

The boys from the Big D clamped down on the defensive end, and put together a 9-0 run to take a 46-42 advantage with 7:16 remaining.

Bruffey added a clutch three from the rightside with 2:22 to go that made it a 53-46 game, and the Crusaders held on for a four-point victory.

Next opponent:

Dallas will host Centennary College of Louisiana at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Maher Athletic Center in what will be the conference-opener for both teams.
