Men's Basketball impresses on 'Senior Night', defeats Arlington Baptist College

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas men's basketball team (4-19) took care of the Arlington Baptist College Patriots, Thursday evening at the Maher Athletic Center, 78-45, sending senior Crusaders Joe Edison (Tulsa, Okla./Metro Christian Academy) and Noah Pettit (Fairfax, Calif./Sir Francis Drake )out in style.

In the opening period, Dallas outscored Arlington Baptist, 40-17, thanks in part to shooting 50 percent (16-of-32) from the field. Meanwhile, the Crusaders were able to hold the Patriots to 26.1 (6-of-23) shooting in the first half.

At the break, freshman forward Ross Davidson (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./JSerra Catholic H.S.) led all scorers, amassing nine points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, including netting a single free throw. For the game, Davidson had 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He also totaled four blocks and as many rebounds.

Dallas' success continued into the second half, as the Crusaders sank 51.7 percent (15-of-29) of their shots from the field, en route to a 33 point home victory.

Both Edison and Pettit received a healthy ovation from the Dallas faithful when they checked out of the game with 4:59 remaining in the contest. The two seniors combined for seven points, five assists, two steals and 12 rebounds.

Junior guard Barrett Brown (Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe H.S.) recorded a team-high 16 points for Dallas, on 6-of-10 shooting from the field, including a perfect 4-for-4 night from three-point land. He also had four helpers.

Sophomore forward Zach Matthews (Fort Worth, Texas/Paschal H.S.) was a third Crusader to enter double-figures, scoring wise. Matthews totaled 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, including sinking his lone attempted three-pointer. He also had two steals.

Up next for Dallas will be a Saturday, Feb. 19, game on the road versus Trinity University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in San Antonio.
