Crusaders Run Into Trouble At Home

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas battled through a high-scoring series against the Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran but ultimately came up short, dropping all three games. The series was an offensive showcase, with a combined 62 runs scored across the matchups. Texas Lutheran (14-6, 6-6 SCAC) claimed the sweep over Dallas (4-15, 4-11 SCAC), despite the Crusaders' persistent offensive efforts.

G1 | Texas Lutheran 8, UDallas 7

Dallas came up just short in a back-and-forth home opener, falling 8-7 despite a strong performance from Caleb Hohman, who went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and three RBIs. The Crusaders held a 3-6 lead heading into the fifth inning, but defensive miscues proved costly as the Bulldogs capitalized to plate five runs and take the lead. The Crusaders had a chance in the ninth but the tying run was caught stealing leading to a 1,2,3 outting.

G2 | Texas Lutheran 24, UDallas 12

A slugfest unfolded in game two, with both teams combining for 36 runs and 28 hits. Dallas saw offensive highlights from Caleb Hohman, who drove in four runs on two hits, and Cody Jenkins , who went 3-for-5 with three RBIs. However, the Crusader pitching staff struggled to contain the Bulldogs, allowing a 12 runs through the 6th and 8th innings ultimately sealing the loss.

G3 | Texas Lutheran 9, UDallas 2

The final game saw Dallas struggle to replicate its earlier offensive production, managing just five hits in a 9-2 defeat. Texas Lutheran controlled the game from the start, jumping out to an early 1-0 lead and briefly falling behind as the Crusaders took a 2-1 lead. Despite a two-hit effort from Nate Curtis, the Crusaders were unable to mount a complete comeback after falling behind in the 6th, closing the series with a tough loss.
