Four Crusaders Earn All-SCAC Honors

CLEBRUNE, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball program had four players receive All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors: Brett Castillo, Donnie Dycus, Caleb Hohman, and Dylan Krause were all named All-SCAC honorable mentions.

Freshman Brett Castillo ended the season as the Crusaders' leader in batting average, posting a .358 mark overall on the season and a .325 mark in coference play.  He was also second on the team in homers (2), RBI (30), and slugging (.459).  He was second in all of those categories to Caleb Hohman, who finished second in the SCAC with eight homers, was fourth in the SCAC with a .544 slugging, and tied for fifth in the conference with 31 RBI.

Donnie Dycus made most of his impact as one of the Crusaders' most reliable relief pitchers, but added even more to his stock on the team by making a surprise impact as a two-way player, locking down some crucial innings at shortstop for Dallas.

Dylan Krause was among a slew of names who received votes in the hotly contested Freshman of the Year balloting, and for good reason.  Krause solidified himself as a bona fide ace, leading the Crusaders in wins (6), strikeouts (57), and ERA (4.20).  He finished in the top three in the conference in wins and was just outside the top 10 in both strikeouts and ERA.
