UD Baseball Preview at No. 17 Centenary College

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas baseball team is back on the road this weekend in Shreveport to play Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opponent Centenary College of Louisiana. Dallas (5-10) won one out of three games in their most recent series against Southwestern University. In that triumph, Dallas scored 17 runs, which was the most in a SCAC game dating to 2012 when the school joined the league. The previous highest runs total was 15 first done on February 19, 2012. The most recent time was on April 12, 2014 against Schreiner University.

Centenary (20-2) is on a 14-game winning streak and have not lost a game since February. The last time UD played Centenary was in 2019 where the Gents took two out of three at home against Dallas. The series will take place in Shreveport with game times scheduled at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 3.

Things to Note:

Conrad Voss (Corona, Calif.) started and won the 10-4 victory UD had over Centenary in 2019. Voss pitched six innings allowing four hits, three runs, two earned with five walks and six strikeouts.

In the 2019 series, Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) went 5-11 with four RBIs, three runs, and five walks.

Joe Vondrachek (North St. Paul, Minn.) is the first Crusader to 10 stolen bases this season, which is the 2nd best amongst all SCAC players.  Vondrachek also stole a pair of bases in the 2019 series vs Centenary.

Centenary's Preston Ludwick went 10-12 in the 2019 series with three doubles, a triple, two home runs, eight RBIs, four runs, two walks and two stolen bases.  Ludwick also leads the SCAC in RBIs with 28.

In the series against Schreiner, Grady Robinson went 4-10 with a triple, a home run, four RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base.

Centenary as a team this year has three of the top five conference leaders in runs batted in, earned run average and wins.  Additionally, the Gents have two of the top five base stealers and a tie for the top strikeout pitcher (Ludwick) so far this year.
