UD Baseball Series Outlook: At Howard Payne on Friday and Saturday

The University of Dallas baseball team goes back on the road with a three game series against Howard Payne University.  Dallas (1-3) split their most recent series against LeTourneau University on March 3 losing 8-2 in game one and winning 6-1 in game two.  UD's opponents, Howard Payne (1-7) was swept in their three game series last weekend against University of the Ozarks by the scores of 5-4, 9-0 and 12-11 in 14 innings.  The last time Dallas played Howard Payne was in 2020 in which UD won both games 7-2 and 11-4.

The series will take place in Brownwood, Texas with game times scheduled at 2:00 p.m. and on Friday March 12 and 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 13.

Things to Note:

Joe Vondrachek (North St. Paul, Minn.) went 5-9 with a double, home run, three RBI, four runs scored and three stolen bases in the two game series against Howard Payne in 2020. Vondrachek also went 4-7 with a double, four runs scored and three stolen bases last week against LeTourneau.

The win for UD was the first on the season and moved the all-time total to 850. 

Nathan Patton (McKinney, Texas) went 4-4 with two doubles, four RBI, four runs scored and two walks against Howard Payne 2020.

Conrad Voss (Corona, Calif.) pitched a complete game victory against Howard Payne in 2020 giving up two runs on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Howard Payne's Derek Gifford went 5-11 with a double, a home run, four RBI, two runs scored, a walk in the series against Ozarks.

David Paleo went 1-3 with a home run and two RBI the game one loss last year against Dallas. Paleo's home run came in the seventh inning with one out to spoil Voss's shutout bid.

Howard Payne suffered their first shutout of the season in their game two loss to Ozarks.
