Former Baseball Pitcher Marshall Signed with Utica in May

UTICA, Mich. – Former University of Dallas baseball right-handed pitcher Will Marshall signed this past May with the Utica Unicorns out of the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL).

Marshall earned his first win with the professional team in his debut on May 12. Through 12 games, Marshall has logged 19.2 innings, while going 1-1 with seven strikeouts. He has totaled six multi-inning outings, including a season-long four innings scoreless innings on May 26th against the Westside Woolly Mammoths.

Marshall Roster Bio

Marshall, a 2017 graduate of Business from Dallas, is the second former UD Baseball player in recent years to play with the Unicorns. Former teammate Luciano Villanueva ('16) signed two summers ago when the USPBL first launched.

Both players have served as volunteer assistants with the Crusaders after graduating.

Marshall lettered three years with the Crusaders, as he logged 99.2 innings in 55 relief appearances. His best season was 2015-16, when he posted a 3-3 record in a career-high 44 innings. He struck out 33 and spun a 3.48 ERA. In four seasons, Marshall fanned 77 batters, while going 6-6 with four saves.

Marshall qualified for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll all four years eligible. He was selected two times on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team in 2016 and 17. Those same seasons, Marshall was named to the SCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

His involvement with what is now the second-largest wiffleball league in Frisco, Texas, garnered Marshall SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete of the Week in 2016.
