Former Baseball's Crook Busy with Texas Rangers Draft

The MLB first-year player draft was this Monday through Wednesday. Two-year University of Dallas baseball player, Bobby Crook, serves as the Special Assignment Crosschecker for the Texas Rangers. He specializes in small-colleges guys to mid-round picks.

Overall the Rangers have seven crosscheckers on a scouting staff that has been tasked to boil down all the baseball talent in the U.S. and Canada into 40 names the Rangers will ultimately select.

Crook was an outfielder for two seasons with the Crusaders. The native of Flower Mound, Texas, earned three varsity letters in baseball under Coach Harp at Marcus High. He was voted "Mr. Hustle" in baseball during his senior year. Crook also was a member of both the National Honor Society and English Honor Society. Finally, he was selected as a National Merit Commended Scholar.

At UD he majored in English and was named to the Honor Roll his first semester.
