Marshall and Abalos tabbed on USCAA Baseball National All-Academic Team

NORFOLK, Va. – The University of Dallas baseball team placed a pair of players on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Baseball National All-Academic Team, which was announced on Sunday at the pre-tournament banquet. William Marshall (Frisco, Texas) was tabbed for consecutive years and Josh Abalos (Lewisville, Texas) received his first nod. In order to be eligible, players must hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The Crusaders have placed multiple players on this listing in the past. The most recent was in 2013 when two players, Trevor Allred and Nico Caluda, qualified. The previous season, a quartet of players made the mark.

Marshall for the second straight season anchored the relief corps on the pitching staff. He matched a team-best 16 relief outings this spring and threw 28.1 innings. He fanned 25 batters and went 2-3 with two saves.

Abalos collected 24 hits and started all 37 games he appeared in on the diamond. The middle infielder adjusted in the middle of the season, taking most of the starts at shortstop. He played second base his freshman campaign. Overall, he collected 24 hits and tied second on the team in stolen bases with 12.
