No. 16 Trinity too much for Dallas in Finale

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas baseball team (4-6) dropped its fourth-straight and was swept by No. 16 Trinity University (7-2), 12-0 on Sunday afternoon in seven innings.

Dallas was outhit 17-3 in the setback, and committed five errors in the field.

The Tigers got on the board in their first at bat with a two-run inning to get the contest rolling. TU would score in five of six frames, with the ballgame being open in the fifth in sixth as the home squad compiled seven runs during the six-out stretch.

Senior Luciano Villanueva (San Antonio, Texas) notched the lone multi-hit result for the Navy and White with a two-for-three day at the dish. The catcher combined for six hits over the series (6-of-11, .545) with a triple and RBI being totaled as well.

Sophomore Alex Stack (Keller, Texas) keeps his spot at the top of the squad for UD in batting average with a .424 clip, as the third baseman knocked the other hit in the setback.

Trinity was led offensively by Colin Serkowski with a perfect 3-for-3 day and matched his hit total for times he crossed the plate. Carter McEachern, Jose Santos, and Jeremy Wolf chipped in two-hit performances. Santos and Wolf also drove in two.

Freshman Abraham Griesbauer (Troy, Mo.) was saddled with the loss after toeing the rubber for the start and going three innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits.

Sophomores Cole Morden (Arlington, Texas) and Eric Felchak (The Woodlands, Texas) also took the ball in this effort with the duo throwing two and one frames, respectively.

Mike Walker (3-0) for the Tigers got the victory and threw six innings of limiting the opposition to a pair of hits and struck out six. Troy Nelson also fanned two in a scoreless seventh.

NEXT OPPONENT

Dallas maintains a steady busy pace with a midweek contest on Feb. 25 at LeTourneau University. The meeting marks the fifth matchup for UD in a week.
