Mark Carlson, Trevor Keele tabbed to 2014 @D3Baseball All-West Region 'Third Team'

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas baseball program has placed two upperclassmen -- Mark Carlson and Trevor Keele -- on the 2014 D3baseball.com All-West Region Third Team.

With two previous D3baseball.com All-West Region teams announced, this is the first time any Crusader has been selected.

Carlson (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.), a 6-foot-1 senior, was the only listed second baseman on the third team. He led Dallas this season in runs (40), triples (nine), total bases (78) and slugging percentage (.553). Carlson's high-mark in triples tied Tom Fogerty (2008) for the single-season school record. They also finished tied for the most in all of NCAA Division III.

Keele (Edgewood, Texas), a 6-foot-1 junior, was the only first basemen to be balloted to the third team. The 2014 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Offensive-Player-of-the-Year, Keele led the navy and white in batting average (.400), hits (54), runs batted in (46), on-base percentage (.456), sacrifice flies (six) and fielding percentage (.991). He also compiled a 2-2 record and four saves as a right-handed pitcher. For his efforts, Keele was named the team's most valuable player.
