UD Baseball Loses Nine Inning Game versus Trinity, Weather Alters Schedule

Despite the cold and wet playing conditions in San Antonio, TX, The University of Dallas baseball team managed to fit in a nine inning game, instead of the scheduled doubleheader, today against Trinity University. Like many of UDs games this year, this one was a high scoring affair, and also, unfortunately, like many of the games, the Crusaders came up short of their opponent, losing 14-9 in 9 innings.

A common trend for the Crusaders this year has been that of falling behind early and today's game was no exception to that trend. After a big 8 run 4th inning, Trinity entered the 5th with an 11-2 lead, and although UD outplayed Trinity over the next 5 innings it was too little to late; they could not overcome the large Trinity lead.

Designated hitter Michael Morrison (Dallas, TX/Lake Hill Prep) had a career day for the Crusaders, recording 2 hits (both doubles), and ended the day with a total of 4 RBI. Also adding 2 RBI was left fielder freshman outfielder Nico Caluda (New Orleans, LA/Jesuit H.S.). Sophomore infielder/outfielder Brian Shelburne (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth H.S.) collected 2 hits and scored twice, and senior infielder Sean McSheffery (Woodridge, IL/Downers Grove North) joined Shelburne by scoring twice.

The Crusaders will finish their series tomorrow against Trinity in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
