Dallas Baseball Drops Finale to Sul Ross

The Crusader baseball team is still searching for their first win of the season after yesterday's high scoring 16-21 loss to Saul Ross State University. After the second inning was in the books, the Crusaders were behind 6-0, but after posting an impressive 6 runs in the seventh inning they were able to tie the game at 14 all. Despite the early deficit, UD was able to briefly take the lead (16-14) in the top of the 8th inning before Sul Ross closed the game out by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the frame.

Most of the lineup batted well for the Crusaders, out of the nine players who got hits, eight of them managed to earn an RBI. Leading the team in RBI was sophomore outfielder Brian Shelburne (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth H.S.) who had a total of 4. Sophomore catcher Varea Costello (Anchorage, AK/South Anchorage H.S.), junior infielder David Rettinger (San Antonio, TX/Central Catholic H.S.), sophomore outfielder Devin Arnold, and senior infielder Sean McSheffery (Woodridge, IL/Downers Grove North) each had 2 RBI.

Hopefully the Crusaders can get things on track at 2:00pm, February 19th, when they take on Howard Payne University in the first game of a 13 game home stand.
