Dan Cruse played golf for the University of Dallas in 1959 and 1960 on the first golf teams sponsored by the university. He held many school records until the recent successful individuals started shattering records from 2017-2019. These marks included: low round, 70, low score for a three round tournament, 215, as well as low average for the season, 74.4. His career low average of 74.7 remains intact. He was also one of four golfers in UD history to win an event by winning the 1959 Gatesville Invitational when he joined the UD Hall of Fame.
