Whyte, Severson, Mencacci Earn USCAA Player of the Week Honors

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The University of Dallas had a trio of players earn United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week awards. Two winners claimed the weekly accolade a second time this season, while the University of Dallas women's soccer team swept the Division I awards. 

Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) is the USCAA Women’s Division I Goalie of the Week.  Severson turned in a pair of clean sheets to lift the Crusaders to a 2-0 start to SCAC play this past weekend.  The senior recorded nine saves on the weekend, including eight in a 1-0 win at Southwestern University. It is her first time to achieve this award.

Alyssa Mencacci (League City, Texas) is the USCAA Women’s Division I Soccer Player of the Week.  Mencacci recorded a point in both of University of Dallas victories on the road this weekend.  The freshman tallied the lone goal that was the difference at Southwestern University.  Mencacci contributed an assist in the Crusaders’ 2-0 win at Texas Lutheran University. 

Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) is the Division I Volleyball Player of the Week.  Whyte helped the Crusaders go 2-2 in the SCAC Crossover this past weekend.  Whyte tallied 51.5 points overall, behind 46 kills and a .304 hitting percentage.  She also added 12 total digs and five blocks. 

Mencacci and Whyte took the weekly awards a second time this fall, and Whyte also increased her career total to three times.
