Bustamante named to USCAA All-American 2nd Team; Trio of players gain Honorable Mentions

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The University of Dallas men’s and women’s basketball team placed members on the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-Americans list. Three players were named for the women’s basketball squad, and senior Aaron Wyatt (Frisco, Texas) represented the men’s basketball team with honorable mention.

Highlighting the trio of Lady Crusaders was senior Marleyna Bustamante (Donna, Texas) with the USCAA All-American Second Team honors. It is her first time being a recipient of the accolade, and the team’s sixth-straight campaign to have members garner it.

The guard led the team with 11.9 points-per-game (ppg) and ranked tops on the squad with 56 steals.

Earning honorable mention for UD were senior Brooke Hagemann (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) and freshman Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.). The forward tandem each received the recognition for the first time this year while rounding out the top double-digit average scoring performances at 11.7 and 10.8, respectively.

Having three players make the All-USCAA All-American teams marks a historic most for the Dallas women’s basketball program.

Wyatt earned his first USCAA All-American accolade in his career. The forward from Frisco, Texas, averaged 11.8 points and pulled down 169 rebounds to lead the Navy and White in each category.

Wyatt was also named All-SCAC Second Team to increase his Post Season awards collection.

UD’s men’s basketball program has listed at least one player on the USCAA All-American rankings the last three years dating back to 2010-11.
