Former @UDallasSoftball Head Coach Rachel Hanson hired by Stanford University

STANFORD, Calif. - Rachel Hanson has been named as head coach of the Stanford University softball team, after previously spending four seasons at Dartmouth College and another five at the University of Dallas.

Hanson helped the Dartmouth softball team, in their 2014 campaign, to an 18-2 conference record and the program's first-ever Ivy League Championship. Following a trip to the NCAA Tempe (Ariz.) Regional, the Big Green finished with an overall mark of 31-19. Their 18 league victories are the most in program history, while 31 wins are second all-time.

Hanson guided Dartmouth student-athletes to a variety of Ivy League honors. In addition to First Team and Second Team selections, she aided in the development of the 2014 Player-of-the-Year, the 2013 and 2014 Pitcher-of-the-Year, and the 2013 Rookie-of-the-Year. During her tenure in Hanover, N.H., student-athletes garnered Ivy League All-Academic recognitions. They were also heralded with National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation All-Region accolades

Prior to her Dartmouth appointment, Hanson coached the University of Dallas softball team. Under her watch, the Lady Crusaders produced a single-season program record of 20 wins. The navy and white achieved top-20 rankings in team scoring, doubles and triples.

Hanson is a 2005 graduate of Trinity University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She was a three-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) All-SCAC selection, and captained the Lady Tigers to the SCAC Championship in her senior year. Hanson also excelled in the classroom. She appeared on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll, and was a mainstay on the university's Dean's List.

Hanson joins a Stanford team that is coming off its 18th-consecutive winning season. On the heels of a 30-25 overall record, the Cardinal return all 10 starters for the 2014-15 academic-year.
