UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS ATHLETICS
UD Athletics Schedule (Mar. 27-28)

UD Athletics Schedule (Mar. 27-28)

The University of Dallas athletics department is coming off a busy week where all in-season sports played last weekend. There were a trio of walk-offs for the baseball and softball programs in all of its victories at home. The baseball team also picked up its first SCAC series win to start conference since 2015. Track and field boasted several personal records in its meet at the TSU Relays. Both soccer teams dropped hard fought 1-0 results to Trinity University at home.

This Saturday and Sunday will feature several Dallas athletic teams again. Baseball plays its first home conference series and weekend games with Southwestern University, while softball continues a 10-game home stand with Centenary College. Soccer is on the road at Austin College, volleyball heads to Shreveport, La., to play Centenary, and women’s golf is on its own at the Lady Crusader Spring Invitational. Track and Field competes its third consecutive Saturday with its meet at the TLU D3 Challenge.

Below are the schedules of games for the Crusaders.

Track & Field at TLU D3 Challenge (Saturday)

Dallas is continuing its busy March with its third straight meet in as many weekends. Nico Walz (Irving, Texas), Ryan Connor (Overland Park, Kan.), and Grace Ebberwein (Wichita, Kan.) will be competing in the 1,500 Meters after debuting the first two weekends in the 5,000m. Ebberwein is the only competitor on the women’s side this weekend. James LaTour (Lubbock, Texas) will still race in the 5000m since he didn’t go back-to-back weeks in the event. Max Crowder (La Marque, Texas), and Samuel McLard (Flower Mound, Texas) will have a short-distance race in the 200 Meters-dash. McLard will join Logan Byrum (Kingsburg, Calif.) in the throws as well, as the pair compete in javelin for the first time in their collegiate careers.

Live Results and Video will be available.

Women’s Golf at Lady Crusader Spring Invitational (Saturday, Sunday)

Claire Kirby (Lubbock, Texas) and Emma Christensen will compete for UD this weekend in their final tune-up before the SCAC Championships next month.

Baseball vs. Southwestern University (Saturday DH, 12 PM | Sunday 1 PM)

Dallas won three-of-four games and took a series win to start league play for the first time since 2015 when it also defeated Schreiner University on the road. The Crusaders look to hold the momentum as they host Southwestern University for a three-game set. There will be video for the series on College TV Ticket, but no livestats.

Softball vs. Centenary College (Saturday DH, 12 PM | Sunday 1 PM)

Dallas split its home-opening series with Austin College last weekend, but won two of the three countable games toward conference, with both being a walk-off. The Crusaders will host Centenary for just three games this weekend, starting with a twinbill on Saturday. Livestats will be available and video will be on the University of Dallas Athletics Facebook page.

Volleyball at Centenary College (Saturday DH, 12 PM & 4 PM)

Dallas volleyball continues its conference only schedule with a doubleheader at Centenary College. The Crusaders are coming off a tough pair of matches at No. 2 Trinity University. In 2019, UD was topped 3-1 at Centenary in the Gold Dome, but picked up a five-set thriller in the Maher Center. Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) was phenomenal in the victory with 21 kills, while Larissa Ramirez (San Antonio, Texas) had her second personal-best on the season 55 assists. Whyte and Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) have been the top overall hitters in kills with 59 and 54, respectively. Ellise Anable (Phoenix, Ariz.) is the only Crusader to play in all 27 sets.

Centenary is 2-6 on the season after splitting at home versus Schreiner University last weekend. Jaycie Proctor combined for 76 digs in the pair of matches, while Alyssa Davis is a top hitter with 94 kills. Livestats and video will be available for both contests and can be found on the udallasathletics volleyball schedule/results page.

Men’s Soccer at Austin College (Saturday, 3 PM)

Dallas heads to Austin College for the first of a two-game road trip as the season starts to finish up being over halfway past. The Crusaders are 1-3-1 after a tough 1-0 setback to Trinity University last Friday. Goncalo Pernas (Lisbon, Portugal) recorded five saves and the lone shot faced that made it past was in the 49th minute.

The ‘Roos are 0-3 and fell to Trinity 2-1 last Sunday. Ivan Barrios netted the lone goal for Austin College in that contest. Connor Tullis is the primary goalkeeper with 12 saves in 225 minutes. Last time these teams met was in 2019 down in Irving. Things went to double overtime and UD won. Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) had the assist. The last time these squads played in Sherman was in 2017.

Livestats and video will be available on udallasathletics men’s soccer schedule/results page.

Women’s Soccer at Austin College (Saturday 6 PM)

Dallas women’s soccer also takes on the ‘Roos in Sherman, Texas, this weekend. The Crusaders fell in overtime 1-0 at the exact 96th minute against unblemished Trinity University. Despite being overwhelmed on the shot count, Dallas (2-2) had a few opportunities to be on the other end of the result and Macey Henderson (San Antonio, Texas) picked up 16 saves for her personal-best. Bekah Gonzalez (Reno, Nev.) was also praised by head coach Lexi Stinson for her work on the backline that doesn’t appear in the stat sheet.

Austin College enters 0-3-1 overall and are coming off a 1-1 draw at Texas Lutheran University last Friday. The goal in Seguin, Texas, by Hallie Dickerson is the team’s only one this season, as all three setbacks have been 1-0 finals. Meredith Harris grabbed 21 of her 45 saves on the season in that match. She has played in goal for 290 minutes.

In 2019, the Crusaders prevailed 2-0 at home with goals by Makayla Snow (North Richland Hills, Texas) and Alyssa Mencacci (League City, Texas). Michelle MacIntyre (Houston, Texas) also recorded an assist. The SCAC Newcomer of the Year, Mencacci, also had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 non-conference win in Sherman early in 2019.

Livestats and video will be available on udallasathletics women’s soccer schedule/results page.
