3rd Year in a Row Kaiser on USCAA National All-Academic Team; Tso Named for Women's Basketball

UNIONTOWN, Pa. – On Tuesday, the United States Collegiate Athletic Conference (USCAA) released the men’s and women’s Division I and II Basketball All-Academic Awards. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

For the University of Dallas, Tom Kaiser (Nashville, Tenn.) garnered his third consecutive USCAA All-Academic Team honor with a 3.66 average. The forward was a force in his senior season for the men’s basketball starting all 25 games and averaging 11 points. He shot 70.6 percent from the field to lead the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and USCAA. He averaged 5.6 rebounds and surpassed 500 career rebounds (538). Kaiser blocked a personal best 35 shots and finished with 93 in his career.

On the women’s side, Sammi Tso (Las Vegas, Nev.) claimed her first personal USCAA All-Academic Award with a 3.61 GPA. Tso is the first member of the program to win such accolades since 2006-07 when Ana Castillo and Kelly Robertson were named. Tso was sidelined most of the campaign with an injury. She played 14 games while averaging 8.8 points and 2.7 assists. The senior set personal highs in points three different occasions, with her final best coming against Southwestern University on January 6 with 23. For the point guard’s career, Tso dished 227 assists to rank 6th all-time.
