University of Dallas 2014-15 Athletic Banquet
IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas Athletics Department celebrated the second annual athletic banquet Sunday evening at Hagaar University Center. Around 126 accolades were announced for the Dallas programs. A record-setting, 265 participants suited up for the Navy and White this season, and 44 school records were either set or matched.
Concluding the evening was the announcement of women's soccer Kayla Nguyen (Olathe, Kan.) being the receipient of the Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year Award. The senior defender became the 16th different student athlete to notch the honor. The Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year Award was first implemented in 1984 and given to Greg Roper -- a current University of Dallas Associate Professor of English. The award is announced annually to the letter-winning varsity student-athlete with the highest GPA; freshmen are not eligible.
