70 Crusaders Named to SCAC Spring Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) announced its Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll today for the 2019 spring term and 860 student-athletes made the list.

Since its inception in the fall of 1997, over 29,000 male and female student-athletes have been recognized for their contributions in the classroom.

The 860 spring honorees are the most for the conference since the league started listing a separate winter and spring honor roll prior to the 2015-16 academic year, and the most for any spring since 2011-12 when the league was a 12-member entity.

To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.25 for the term and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a sport sponsored by the conference.

The University of Dallas placed 70 student-athletes among baseball, softball, men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, men’s track & field, and women’s track & field. UD baseball paced the group with 22 honorees, its highest since joining the league in 2012. Women’s lacrosse followed with 14 players, which is the highest in its second season since the SCAC resumed sponsorship in 2019. Softball and women’s track and field also eclipsed double-digits with 10 apiece. It was softball’s highest total for the SCAC Academic Honor Roll, too. It is the fifth time the women’s track and field team has reached double figures, but first since a four-year streak from 2014-2017. A quartet of men’s golf players made the list that were either juniors or seniors, while the women’s side had a pair qualify in its first year of competing as a team in the league. Men’s lacrosse completed the list with four.

The 70 student-athletes that qualified were the highest all-time for the spring sports at Dallas while in the SCAC. The next highest was 42 in 2015 and 2017, though men’s and women’s lacrosse and women’s golf just recently started being accounted for. All Crusaders that qualified are listed below:
