Trio tabbed for USCAA All-American Honors

Uniontown, Pa. – Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, the presenting sponsor of the 2016 USCAA Basketball National Championships, played host to the USCAA championship banquet on Tuesday night. At the banquet the USCAA awarded 128 All-Americans in its four divisions of basketball.

Among those listed athletes were three members from the University of Dallas basketball teams. Representing on the women’s basketball team were junior Seana Stoia (Tulsa, Okla.) and sophomore Michelle DeCoud (Monument, Colo.) On the men’s side, junior Michael Sarrat (Colleyville, Texas) got tabbed with the honor. This is DeCoud’s second consecutive year to earn the accolade, while Stoia, and Sarrat notched the award for the first time in their careers.

Despite playing 17 of 25 games due to studying abroad the first part of the campaign, DeCoud tied second on the team in total points (222) and led with 13.1 points-per-game (ppg). The forward was just 13 rebounds shy (141) from being tops on the squad. She led the SCAC in field goal percentage (51.3) and second in rebounds per contest (8.3). DeCoud ranked fourth in the USCAA in field goal percentage with a 51.3-mark and tied for ninth in rebounding average with 8.3 per contest.

Stoia was the team-leader in scoring and rebounding. She totaled a career-high 294 points and averaged 11.8 ppg. On the glass, she garnered a career-best 154 rebounds to pace the Lady Crusaders. Stoia notched three double-doubles. The Forward boasted 16 games above double figures in scoring and set a personal best, 27 points, in an 87-67 victory against Centenary College of Louisiana on January 16. She also shot 10-of-16 in that game.

Sarrat also topped his career-high in points with 321 on the year, and led the team in averaging 12.5 points on the campaign. The guard led the squad with 43 made three-pointers and shot a 41.7-clip from behind the arc. That percentage ranked Sarrat fifth in the SCAC. Sarrat was tied for 11th in the USCAA in three-point percentage with a 41.7-clip.
