Hassink 2nd in Shot Put and breaks Hammer Throw Record in SCAC Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team concluded the 2017 season on Friday and Saturday at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship hosted by Trinity University. The host school prevailed on the women's side with 234 points. Texas Lutheran followed with 185 points for second and Colorado College had 130 to round out the top three.

Scoring 13-of-17 points for the Crusaders was Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.). For the second time in April, she earned personal records (PRs) in all three throwing events performed: Shot Put, Hammer Throw, and Discus Throw. The junior dual athlete that also plays volleyball, capped a stellar first season with a school record in the Hammer Throw on Friday (36.53 Meters) and notched second in the Shot.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Hassink's Shot Put PR distance was 11.71m, as she garnered eight points with the second place finish. Hassink took fourth in the Hammer with her record breaking toss that surpassed Julie Hendricks (111'2") at the Ray Vaughn Classic in Oklahoma City on April 6, 2002.

- Finally Hassink's third PR was in the Discus (25.61m) as she took a point with sixth place.

- Audrey Zohorsky (Ellicott City, Md.) was part of a quartet of runners to take part in the 200 Meter Dash. She paced a trio of Crusaders that ran PRs with a 28.87 time.

- Rose Forget (St. Louis, Mo.) shattered PRs in the 200m (30.49) and 100m (14.27)

- Julia Ringel (Kansas City, Mo.) rounded out the trio of PRs in the 200m with a 30.53 mark.

- Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) also ran well in the 200m by ending her spring with a season best of 26.94.

- Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas) garnered a PR in the 1500m (5:50.13) to cap her rookie year.

- Both of UD's relay teams etched season-bests with the 4x100m and 4x400 displaying 53.86 and 4:24.30, Ellen Jennings (New Canaan, Conn.), Zohorsky, McIntyre, and Ringel ran in both.
