Concordia blanks Men's Lacrosse on Saturday

MEQUON, Wis. – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team fell 23-0 at Concordia University (WI) on Saturday afternoon. The setback is the Navy and White's fourth in a row.

Dallas fell behind early in a 6-0 opening quarter, and a 10-goal second would propel the Falcons to a comfortable 16-0 edge at intermission.

The Crusaders had one shot through the first stanza by sophomore Cody Wooten (Aurora, Colo.) with 2:40 until halftime. It was a difficult day for UD offensively as the squad mustered seven shots and placed three on cage. Wooten notched one of the shots on goal.

Juniors Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.) and Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) combined for five shots with three and two, respectively. The top two scoring duo on the season also added a shot on cage apiece. Also collecting a shot was senior Zachary Wellwerts (McHenry, Ill.).

Cyr picked up a team-high five groundballs, and Dallas finished with 12 in the shutout.

Junior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) took the loss (5-9) between the pipes and picked up 15 saves.

A quartet of players for Concordia recorded hat tricks including: David Mueller, Derek Brueske, Colin Raley, and Jaeden Gilles. Contributing multi-scoring performances were: Matt Garvey, Cameron Torres, and James Warner.

CUW amassed 63 shots, 47 groundballs, eight assists, and went 19-of-26 in face offs. Splitting time in the goalkeeper position with 30 minutes each were Jacob Murnane and Matthew Erickson. Murnane took the start and got a save and Erickson nabbed the other two stops.

NEXT OPPONENT: Dallas heads to Milwaukee School of Engineering on Sunday to continue the back-to-back day trip. Start time set for 1 p.m.
