THE LEAD

The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team (5-8) looks to end a three-game losing streak this upcoming weekend. The season-long, seven-game road trip continues to Wisconsin with Dallas playing at Concordia University (WI) on April 18. The next day UD heads to Milwaukee School of Engineering on the 19th. Both starts are slated for 1 p.m.

On the year, Dallas is 2-7 away from Crusader Field and have dropped all three contests on the current road stint. The current Navy and White group are 5-0 when they post double figures this campaign, and remain the program-holder for most wins.

LAST TIME OUT

A week ago, the Crusaders kept Southwestern University within range through the first 15 minutes, trailing 4-2. Dallas led 1-0 to start the affair, but three unanswered goals put the home team ahead for good.

Another four-goal stanza lifted the Pirates to an 8-2 advantage at intermission. The final score would be 17-3.

Involved in the trio of netters for the visitors was junior Matthew Cyr (St. Louis, Mo.). The midfielder tied a team-high three shots along with classmate Alex Ziolkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and senior Cody Wooten (Aurora, Colo.). UD totaled 10 attempts as a team.

Wooten added an assist, scoring in the final scoring sequence as he dished a pass to Cyr on the second goal with 28 seconds left in the first. The goal occurred on a Dallas power play.

LEADERBOARD

Cyr's eighth hat trick helped increase the team-leading scorer's total to 38 on the season. He has scored in 11-straight contests and has found the back of the cage in 12 of 13 matches. Other team-highs for the St. Louis, Missouri, native include: 122 shots, 68 shots on cage, and 43 points. His five assists rank second behind Wooten's six.

Ziolkowski has accumulated 18 goals to hold second on the squad along with 21 points and 79 shots. Wooten rounds out the unit of double-digit performers with 13 and has team-high, six assists, equals to 19 points. The senior also is shooting a 70-percent shots on goal clip.

Senior Zachary Wellwerts (McHenry, Ill.) has tallied five goals, which is the next highest, but all four had come in a stretch snapped in the latest game at Southwestern.

In the goalkeeper's position, junior Ryan Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif.) has worked all 13 games and amassed 747:59 minutes. He has boasted a career-high 228 saves.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

Concordia University (7-6) fell 14-8 on Wednesday at Aurora University to snap a string of consecutive victories. CUW has gone 3-3 at home this season and 4-4 in non-conference action.

The Falcons are averaging 9.92 goals-per game and 35.8 shots-per game. Individually, CUW has been led by Derek Brueske. His numbers have impressed thus far with 30 goals, 15 assists, and 45 points. David Mueller and Matt Garvey have noted 12 and 10 goals, respectively.

The majority of the goalkeeping has been etched by Thomas Mueller. He has stopped 90 saves in 675:30 minutes. Jacob Murnane has added 84:01 in the cage.
