Dallas Baseball Completes Sweep of Lyon

BATESVILLE, Ar. - The University of Dallas baseball team defeated Lyon College on Sunday to complete the three game sweep of the Scots.  They improve to 6-1 on the season

Things were mostly quiet while both starting pitchers were in the game.  Marcelo Carillo II had another solid outing, allowing just one earned run with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.

The Crusaders gave him a 4-2 lead to work with after a three-run home run by Nate Curtis in the sixth, his first of the season.  Dallas took a commanding lead in the seventh, piling on seven runs on six hits to go up 11-2.

After padding their lead with two more runs in the eighth the game seemed out of reach for Lyon, but the Scots made a game out of it.  They cut the deficit to four runs with seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth, but it was too little, too late.  They couldn't muster any more runs in the ninth, as Dallas staved off any hopes of a late comeback to complete the sweep.

Reed Morales also homered in the game, his first of the season, going 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBI.  Seven Crusaders notched an RBI in the game, and five of them drove in at least two runs.

The Crusaders will host a single game with McMurry on Tuesday, Feb. 27.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
