Wilgenbusch Wins Fourth Consecutive Race on the Season at UD Invitational

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's cross country team took home a first place finish on its home course at the University of Dallas Invitational (5k) on Saturday. Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) paced the pack winning her fourth consecutive race in as many meets with a time of 19:12.50. Emma Kate Callahan (Overland Park, Kan.) grabbed second place running a time of 22:06.80. Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas) rounded out the top-five coming in with a time of 23:43.60. UD won its home meet with 15 points.

TFRRS officially registers the course at 3.1 Miles, so Wilgenbusch notched her third different school record this season. The previous fastest mark was by Louisa Mox at the LeTourneau Dual in 1982. That race was also held in Irving and the time was 21:04.

All of the Dallas competitors raced well on its home course. Following the top-five positions, UD took 6, 7, and 8 consecutively and had had a 10th and 11th place finish as well. Seven Dallas runners finished in the top-10, all taking home medals from the achievements.

Callahan ran her fastest time on this course. Angelina Huffman made her collegiate running debut on the day for UD.

Central Baptist College took second as a team with a score of 49. Austin College and Dallas Christian College competed with unattached runners.

Dallas will now turn its attention to 6k races for the remainder of the season. UD will compete next at the ETBU Home Meet in Marshall, Texas next Friday.
