Wilgenbusch Grabs First Place in the Inaugural UT-Dallas Cross Country Invitational

RICHARDSON, Texas - The University of Dallas women's cross country team took fourth place at the inaugural UT Dallas Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) won the meet with a career-best time of 18:55 in the 5k race. Emma Kate Callahan (Overland Park, Kan.) notched the second-best time for Dallas to secure the 12th position and set a new Personal Record (PR) in the 5k. (21:40).

Sabrina Lucio (Chino, Calif.) took the third spot for UD finishing in 24th place (22:42). Elizabeth Regnerus (Round Rock, Texas) and Isabella Childs (Saint Mary's Kan.) also picked up PR's finishing at the 23:32 and 24:50 marks, respectively.

Hardin-Simmons University took the win with 36 points. University of Mary Hardin-Baylor finished second (70), while UT-Dallas grabbed third.

Wilgenbusch is the first women's runner to win an individual event since Clare Meyers who won the University of Dallas Invitational in 2013.

Dallas will prepare for the Muthama-Rogers XC Invite (5k) in hosted by Bethel College in Newton, Kansas next Saturday.
