Women's Track & Field Competes at Leap Day Relays on Saturday

JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Dallas women's track and field team competed at the Leap Day Relays hosted by Millsaps College on Saturday. Dallas had a couple of new faces make their season-debuts on the day and saw some future success in the first outdoor meet of the season.

In the first relay, Dallas had two teams compete in the 1600 Sprint Medley. Team A was represented by Anisa Meza (Helotes, Texas), Maddie Rodriguez (Houston, Texas), Brenda Mendoza (Dumas, Texas), Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas). They finished fourth with a time of 5:17.34. Team B: Nicole Zurita (Wichita, Kan.), Sara Mora (Spring, Texas), Michelle Narvaez (Shawnee, Kan.), Maria Pecha (San Antonio, Texas) came in fourth at the 5:32.85 mark. Narvaez made her collegiate debut at this meet.

Narvez, Meza, Pecha, and Korth 3:38.78 was the foursome in the 4x400 Meter Relay and finished third.   

Korth, Pecha, and Mendoza notched times of 5:51.74, 6:10.81, and 6:10.82 in the 1500 Meter Run.

In the Women's 100 Meter Dash Rodriguez (14:66), Narvaez (15.66), Mora (16.14), and Zurita (16.49) competed. Rodriguez had a top-ten finish as she finished eighth.

In the field events, Jules Oliveti (Southlake, Texas) and Hannah Wilmes (Wentzville, Mo.) competed in Shot Put. Oliveti threw 9.54 meters for fifth, while Wilmes notched eighth with a throw of 8.68 meters. Wilmes made her collegiate debut on the day.

Oliveti (32.09m) and Wilmes (24.47m) competed in the Discus throw. Oliveti grabbed another fifth-place finish.  

In the Javelin Throw, Wilmes threw 28.90 meters for a third-place finish.
