Hassink Breaks Javelin Record on Friday; Holds trio of Records in Women's Track & Field Program

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – On Friday, May 11th, Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.) competed at the 2nd Annual Spire Twilight held by University of Saint Mary (KS). Hassink shattered the Javelin Throw School Record in just her second competition of her career. She landed a 33.77 Meters mark that converts to 110'7".

The previous record holder was 100'06" by Taryn Hames at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas on March 4th, 2006.

Hassink also threw in the Shot Put that afternoon, marking a 12.00m (39'4.5") result. Hassink was just shy of her own personal record (PR) and the school's all-time highest mark set at the conference championship two weeks ago. It is the second farthest throw in the event for Hassink and in school history. She holds the best four throws in the record books.

Both events in the Last Chance meet were third place finishes.

Hassink now owns program records for Shot Put, Hammer Throw, and the Javelin. Her record result in the Shot Put counted as the farthest throw in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) this season. Her Hammer Throw record was also achieved at the league championship in 2017.
