Crusaders Unable to Blemish Centenary's Unbeaten Record

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas women's soccer team came up short on giving Centenary College its first loss of the 2019 season on Sunday afternoon in a 2-1 result. Monica O'Donnell (Lincoln, Neb.) put the Crusaders (3-4-1) on the board early at the 1:44 mark with her first goal of the campaign.

The Ladies (8-0) were on the attack the rest of the half with eight of the next 11 attempts taken. A couple shots in the 24th and 26th minutes for Centenary were on goal though, as Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) made the saves for Dallas.

Dallas carried a 1-0 lead at halftime and it was just the second time this season the Ladies had been scoreless in the first half.

UD five shots for nearly 20 minutes to start the next stanza. This included a pair of saves by Severson.

Migui Boldrin notched the equalizer finally at 64:32 on an assist from Sydney Bascomb.

Dallas got the next shot at the 71st minute, which was the first of the frame. Gigi Garcia Orozco (San Antonio, Texas) put the shot on goal. The freshman finished with a team-high five shots, all coming in the second half for UD's only attempts. Orozco also had two corner kicks, but the Dallas offense could not find another goal.

The Ladies gained the go-ahead goal in the 85th minute by Boldrin again. This time Betza Carmona provided the helper.

Centenary took 21 shots compared to eight by the Crusaders. Dallas did have a 3-2 edge in corner kicks and were called offsides once, while the Ladies were whistled for being off twice. The home team was given 15 fouls compared to eight by its opponent.

Severson had seven saves in 90 minutes for the Crusaders. Dallas moves to 2-2 against Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foes.
