IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team dropped a tough overtime match to Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon. Brenda Pedroza scored the golden goal right around six minutes into the first extra frame. That was the only goal as the teams combined for 29 shots but only had 11 on target.

With both squads vying for the last spot in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament, it was a scoreless battle with neither finding the back of the net in 90 minutes. The Crusaders posted five shots in both halves of regulation. Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) tied a game-high four total and Aileen Machado (Dallas, Texas) had three. Whitney Jackson (Pryor, Okla.) and Lexi Tocci (Austin, Texas) hit the only shots on goal for UD. Dallas did have a short bench with only 12 field players participating in the match.

The Pirates did attempt 10 shots overall in the second half and had a few chances with under five minutes to play. The first by Alli Moff was saved and then another look by her with barely over a minute left got blocked. Grace Maynard got the immediate rebound but missed right.

In overtime, Southwestern took the only two shots. Emily Schmalstieg-Ramirez had her attempt saved by Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) three minutes in. After Dallas was whistled for a handball, the Pirates got a free kick in decent field position that Romie Reyna took advantage of. She served a ball towards the middle of the box and Pedroza headed it off the left post and into the netting.
