Women's Soccer drops Match at Centenary on Friday

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Dallas women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision on Friday evening at Centenary College. Three first half goals by the home squad captured the momentum for good, as the Crusaders were outshot  19-12 and held to just three shots on frame.

A penalty kick by Kyra Montes lifted the Ladies in front at the 18:54 minute mark. She was responsible for the next goal as well in the 39th minute. After Emilee Byrd's shot was blocked by UD, Montes put the rebound in for her second of the night and gave her four points. Another scoring play, this time by Betzabet Bravo, less than a minute later sealed the trio in the first stanza.

Centenary did score a final time in the next half, but had plenty of support in a triumph that lifted it to 4-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in conference.

Cailey Griffin (Corryton, Tenn.) and Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) led the Crusaders with three shots apiece. Mariana Burciaga (Forney, Texas), Whitney Jackson (Pryor, Okla.), and Duran posted all of UD's shots on goal. The setback moves the Crusaders to 3-9-2 on the campaign and 2-6-1 for fifth in the SCAC. They split the season series with the Maroon and White.
