Women's Soccer earns 1st Win of 2017 with 3-0 Shutout at Louisiana College
PINEVILLE, La. – The University of Dallas women's soccer team prevailed 3-0 on Monday at Louisiana College. It was the first victory of the 2017 season for UD (1-2) and first of head coach Lexi Stinson's career. The Wildcats moved to 0-2 overall.
Having dropped their first two matches less than five days ago by a goal, the Crusaders raced out to an early advantage with two goals towards the middle of the first half. Aileen Machado (Dallas, Texas) snuck in and finished a shot off a mishandled ball from the Louisiana College goalkeeper. That goal at the 19:37 minute mark was all the road team needed on Labor Day.
Kate Vidimos (Bedford, Texas) came through with her first goal of the campaign a little under two minutes later to expand the edge.
Machado notched her first career multi-scoring game and second by a Crusader this week with an early goal in the 51st minute. She was open on the left side and smacked a ball across to find the upper right corner.
A trio of Crusaders amassed 13 of the team's season-high 19 shots with each them having at least four attempts. Vidimos led the unit with five, while Machado and Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) contributed four. UD posted nine shots on goal, with Machado leading all players with three. Duran and Vidimos also had a pair of shots on target. Katia Guzman (Pearland, Texas) and Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) were perfect with their lone shots on frame.
The Crusaders drew 10 corner kicks with eight in the second stanza. LC had none in the match.
Olivia Severson (La Crosse, Wis.) notched her first career shutout in her first start of the season. She was part of three shutouts by the team in her freshman season. Louisiana College only had four shots overall, but Severson did deflect two saves on both shots faced. Jaime Trahan for the Wildcats took two shots with one on goal. McKenna Raines was the other player to kick a ball on goal. Lexi Tate was saddled with the loss. In 90 minutes, Tate posted six saves against nine shots faced.

Dallas concludes a three-game road trip at LeTourneau University on September 8th. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. After that the Crusaders return home for a non-conference match with East Texas Baptist University at 2 p.m.
