Women's Soccer unable to solve Southwestern Sunday

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-9, 0-4 SCAC) allowed an early goal to Southwestern University (4-5-1, 3-0-1 SCAC), and would fall 1-0 on Sunday in the oad match.

The Pirates got on the board in the seventh minute as Sarah Bevins finished a second chance shot that rebounded off sophomore Elena Naccari's (Covington, La.) first save. Mady Akers fired the first shot and was credited with the assist as Bevins lifted SU with the goal.

It proved to be enough, despite the Lady Crusaders picking up the opportunities in the second half. After being outshot 10-3 in the first stanza, Dallas would attempt nine shots in the final frame. UD also held an edge in shots on goal by one (6-5).

Kylie Hunt (3-5-1) would shut out the visitors in the win. She made six stops, including four in the second half.

Leading Dallas with a season-high four shots was sophomore Alice Nelson (Jackson, Tenn.). The midfielder placed two of them on target. Fellow classmate Mackenzie Vasile (San Antonio, Texas) added the other multi-shot game with a pair. Her first shot at the 14:55 minute mark was the first for UD on the day.

A quartet of Lady Crusaders contributed shots on goal including: freshmen Mason Cosgrove (Las Cruces, N.M.) and Alanna Hernandez (Buena Park, Calif.), sophomore Taylor Ray (Cypress, Texas), and junior Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii).

Naccari (1-9) was saddled in the tough setback with four saves against five shots faced.

Southwestern amassed 21 shots, with two players kicking four apiece. Forming the duo were Mady Akers and Bevins. Hayley Miesse, Megan McGrath added three shots each, and Kierstyn Luckock rounded out the players with multiple shots taken with two.
