Goals in Second Half drop Women's Soccer at Texas Lutheran Friday

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-8, 0-3 SCAC) allowed two goals in the second half to a Texas Lutheran University team (7-0-1, 3-0-1 SCAC) on Friday evening. It was all the Bulldogs needed to complete a 2-0 final. After battling to a scoreless draw at intermission, Texas Lutheran was able to shift the momentum in the final frame, outshooting UD 9-2, with a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

The Lady Crusaders attempted the first shot of the match with a shot on goal by sophomore Taylor Ray (Cypress, Texas) 37 seconds after kickoff. TLU's Erin Rose made the save and from there, the home team would take the next six shots until halftime.

It was the first time this fall the Lady Crusaders were involved in a scoreless contest at the break.

After Dallas placed two more efforts on target to begin the second stanza, it was the Bulldogs that shifted momentum with the next three shots. The final of the trio landed in the back of the net by Claudia Trevino at the 58:04 minute mark. Jessica Coronado provided the assist.

Sioned Kirkpatrick would double the edge with a goal later in the 75th minute. Texas Lutheran kicked the next nine shots of the contest, before senior Abigale Weisbrod (Mesquite, Texas) ended the stretch with a shot on goal.

Dallas was able to shoot a perfect four-of-four shots on goal in the match. Among the quartet of players for the Navy and White included: freshmen Samantha Deitschel (San Antonio, Texas) and Kathryn Zepeda (Lynnwood, Wash.), Ray, and Weisbrod.

Sophomore Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) collected six saves against eight shots in 90 minutes as the goalkeeper for the Lady Crusaders.

Texas Lutheran would be led by Kirkpatrick with four shots and two shots on goal. Kyndall Ramirez followed with three shots, and Trevino was the other member of the Bulldogs to tally a multi-shot game with two.

TLU would benefit from five corners in the game, but also committed nine fouls. Earning the win for the home team between the posts was Rose. She made four saves in 85:11 minutes, and Nichole Glazener finished the remainder of the 4:49 on the clock.
