Women's Soccer concludes Home Stand Sunday in Setback to Schreiner University

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-7, 0-2 SCAC) fell Sunday afternoon to Schreiner University (4-3-1, 1-1 SCAC) by a final of 4-1. Dallas has dropped its last five, all coming on a season-long home stand.

The Mountaineers were able to take advantage of an early goal by Cailee Morgan in the fourth minute after the opening tilt. Kayla McConnell was credited with the assist on a cross, and would net the next goal at the 34:49 mark to double SU's advantage.

A little over four minutes later resulted in a Crusaders' goal to cut the deficit in half. Senior Nicolette Perez (San Diego, Calif.) produced the point for Dallas and was her first of the campaign. Perez did kick the first shot attempt of the match for UD, and was on target to get the home team on the board. Fellow classmate Abigale Weisbrod (Mesquite, Texas) notched her second assist and lifted her to first on the squad with four points.

The score remained the same at halftime 2-1, as the Lady Crusaders tallied three of their four shots in the first frame. Dallas maintained possession throughout the early portion of the second half, but could not find the equalizer.

Schreiner's Ashley Foster pushed the match out of reach with a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes. Her first goal of the contest was at the 72:18 mark, and the final scoring play occurred with about 40 seconds remaining.

Junior Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii), sophomore Lauren Hood (Bedford, Texas), and Weisbrod tallied shot attempts for Dallas. Sophomore Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) played 90 minutes in goal and picked up a save.

Three players logged multi-shot games for the Mountaineers, led by McConnell with three. Foster and Kyli Harvey rounded out the group with two apiece and accounted for seven of SU's 10 attempts. Megan Morant earned the win in 90 minutes while allowing the lone goal from Dallas.
