No. 5 Trinity gets by Women's Soccer Friday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-6, 0-1 SCAC) dropped a 3-0 match versus No. 5 Trinity University (4-0-1, 2-0 SCAC) on Friday afternoon. Dallas is looking to end a four-game skid, all coming on a season-long, five-match home stand.

The Lady Crusaders kept up with the top five nationally ranked foe according to the NSCAA Coach's Poll through September 5, keeping the deficit at one by intermission.

Trinity found the scoring column early in the contest, as Jordan Leeper completed a goal in the upper right corner on an assist from Emily Donnan. This sequence occurred at the 4:35 minute mark.

UD was outshot 14-2 in the opening half, but left the Tigers with six shots on goal, as the home team's goalkeeper Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) turned away five attempts on frame during the first 45 minutes.

The sophomore garnered 11 saves in the match, giving her four matches with double-digit totals in that category. This mark was also her second highest on the campaign.

The road team pushed the advantage in the second stanza with a goal from Julia Camp at the 67:42 mark and Brigitte Taylor at the 74:22 point. Camp led the Tigers with three points as she assisted Taylor's netter. Colleen Markey was credited with the assist on the second goal of the contest by Camp.

Dallas notched six shots with two on goal, and coming from six individuals. Freshmen Katia Guzman (Pearland, Texas) and Samantha Deitschel (San Antonio, Texas) logged the shots on goal for the Lady Crusaders. Rounding out the shot column included: junior Cascade Mayer (Kapaa, Hawaii), senior Abigale Weisbrod (Mesquite, Texas), and freshman Mariana Burciaga (Forney, Texas).

Halleanne Dure led Trinity and all players in the game with six shots and four shots on goal. A trio of Tigers compiled three-shot matches: Chelsea Cole, Markey, and Hannah Hommel.

Three goalies were in the net throughout this match. Getting the start and win was Jane Thompson. At halftime, a keeper change was made as Dana McLaughlin entered and notched two saves through 31:26 minutes. Kalli Douma finished the final 13:34 of the shutout.
